Ordered by Hermann Ohlthaver (1883/1979) of Johannesburg. Herman was a German banker who in the early 1900s was sent to Luderitzbucht on banking business, where he met Carl List. A lasting friendship was struck and the firm of Ohlthaver & List Bank Kommission was formed. Herman left the partnership early on to concentrate on his financial interests in the mines: Eastern Transvaal & New Machavie (Gold), Khan Mining (Copper), Potgietersrus (Platinum) and Diamonds. Ohlthaver resigned as Chairman of the Transvaal Mining & Finance Co in 1950 but remained as director. In November 1972, at the time of ordering the Phantom VI, Hermann Ohlthaver was 89 years old.
